摘要

As the Bering Sea pollock B, or non-roe, season dragged on painfully toward the trawl cutoff date of Nov. 1, fishermen became increasingly concerned about the health and future of this resource. At press time, the final numbers were not yet in, but everyone expected a significant amount of quota to remain uncaught. The huge pollock fishery is No. 1 in terms of volume and value in the Bering Sea. The B season catcher vessel quota was 356,841 metric tons and the catcher-processor quota was 292,673 metric tons. (There are also smaller mothership and CDQ quotas.)
