Packers restate their objections to MSC certification role

In mid-May, 27 salmon packers released a statement emphasizing that they no longer wanted to be part of the Marine Stewardship Coalition's sustainability program. It was a follow-up to a note in January in which eight major processors stated their reasons for withdrawing. Technically, the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation is the client for MSC certification of Alaska salmon. The processors said they no longer want to support the foundation's role in the MSC process concerning Alaska salmon.
