The highly detailed renovation of the five-story, 73,ooo-sq.-ft. courthouse included the creation of a blast-proof, airtight mailroom, a new courtroom, a new legal library, offices and upgrades to mechanical systems. The goal was to balance renovation, which allowed the building to receive modernization, with preservation, which protected the specific historical aesthetics and significance of the courthouse.
