Alrosa to become OJSC soon--property agency

Alrosa, Russia's Yakutia-based diamond monopoly, will become an open joint-stock company (OJSC) before long, Yury Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Federal Property Agency (Rosimuschestvo), said in the State Duma. Medvedev said the agency was still honoring an amicable agreement with Yakutia's government regarding disputed assets that are on Alrosa's books, and that one of the agreement's conditions was that Alrosa, which is currently a closed joint-stock company (CJSC), become an OJSC.
