STRATEGY FOR PROMOTION OF AGROFORESTRY IN DRY REGIONS OF MAHARASHTRA : A CASE STUDY

Maharashtra is one of the water deficit states in India which also has a sparse forest cover. As a result, farmers in many of the districts face acute shortage of fodder, fuel, timber and other tree products. Therefore, tree based farming system has good potential to provide a stable income to farmers particularly during the dry period. In this paper strategy for promotion of agroforestry in dry regions of Maharastra has been discussed.
