KATE ROSS READILY admits that she's not really a flowery kind of person. "I like lots of greenery. I find it incredibly peaceful to look at." So it's a bit surprising that she placed a "protection order" on four blush-pink standard roses that line the verandah on one side of her home in Remuera, Auckland. "After my husband Howard and I bought the property, we lived in the original house for about six months. Then we demolished it right down to the floorboards and built our new home.
