Technology delivering long-term gains

Having dabbled with variable rate nitrogen application in the past, equipment incompatibility has driven Rob and Justin Ruwoldt away from pursuing this technology further for now. The nature of proprietary equipment compatibility has seen Rob and Justin focus their efforts on other aspects of their cropping enterprise. Improved planting methods, soil health and minimising compaction have seen yields increase on their property 35km north east of Horsham, Victoria. Rob has been developing equipment incollaboration with implement manufacturer, Grizzly. Having had a part in designing the Grizzly tram-track renovator during 2009, Rob has turned his efforts towards a new disc planter design that utilises a large opening disc.
