Sunny solution to rural power needs

Australia is moving into the world of concentrated solar power, a renewable energy source that will deliver long-term benefits to the bush. Solar energy that performs, rain, hail or shine and night or day, is the holy grail of the renewable energy industry. And it's called concentrated solar power (CSP). Even better, a study by University of Western Australia (UWA) researchers has confirmed the potential for CSP across the state's wheatbelt. Wheatbelt Development Commission senior project officer, Pip Kirby said the goal of the project is to generate electricity for rural and mining communities and mining interests. Ms Kirby said assistant professors Julian Clifton and Bryan Boruff, of UWA's School of Earth and Environment, have identified areas inthe central and eastern wheatbelt, which are ideal sites for CSP.
