The government will fully mandate the use of B-5 nationwide on July 1, 2014, according to Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas. All 3,877 service stations will have to sell B-5 by then. The government targets a B-5 blending ratio for the subsidized (320,000 tonnes of B-100 equivalent) and non-subsidized segments (180,000). There is heavy doubt in the market whether the implementation of a B-5 mandate in the latter is feasible.
