A potentially groundbreaking technology development for the secondary aluminium smelting industry is on trial at a local aluminium company. It involves a highly sophisticated oxy-fuel burner and control system for an aluminium direct-charged reverb furnace developed by Alrode-based industrial and specialty gas manufacturer and supplier, Messer Fedgas, in partnership with a specialist engineering firm from the US and burner experts from Germany.In the development of the technology, a highly sophisticated computer-modeling programme was used to simulate and analyse furnace conditions.
