Taking control beyondborders

THE issue of mine security is a broad church. At its simplest level are issues such as clay to day security at the site perimeter, such as using checkpoints to monitor workers and visitors as they enter the mine/plant area and a fence to keep unwanted trespassers out. For some mines and quarries, particularly those in low risk western countries mining low value/high volume products, this alone may be enough. At the other end of the scale are mines in developing countries and remote regions, where there may be a much more complicated relationship with local and national governments, the people living on or near the site and the employees themselves.
