The appeal of electric cars is around their low running costs: so how much is the BMW i3 actually costing me day to day? Chargemaster is the provider of my wallbox, where I plug the car in at home, and its customer website records I've used 274 kilowatt/hours of electricity over 29 sessions. That's given me 1,583 miles of driving - in layman's terms I've driven London to Land's End five times for just under £30. It's hard to argue with that as a motoring expense. Of course, in the real world I'd probably be making a monthly finance payment, which BMW's website has starting at £369 over three years.
