摘要

The ability to predict the performance of materials has become very important to materials scientists. Whether it is predicting the performance while under a dynamic or repeated dynamic load (compression or tension), understanding the resulting changes in physical structure is paramount to lifetime prediction. Here we describe our preliminary efforts to collect high resolution X-ray computed tomography images of a foam under in-situ loading conditions, make statistical measurements in the changes of the structure, feed the original image into a Material Point Method model, and then demonstrate the comparison between the resultant structure of the material to the simulated compression.
