摘要

Context and setting Online learning seems to be effective at enabling health professionals to improve their knowledge and skills. However, it is uncertain whether these improvements lead to changes in health professionals' attitudes and clinical practice. There is also uncertainty about how best to capture such changes in practice. Why the idea was necessary BMJ Learning is an interactive learning website for health professionals in the UK (http://www.learning.bmj.com/learning/main.html). It allows users to learn online and to keep a record of their learning in an electronic personal and professional development plan. After the site was launched, we received feedback from users who wanted to be able to record what their attitudes and practice had been before they undertook a learning module, what they were afterwards and any changes that the module made to their practice.
