VX fills void with mold design tools: VX CAD/CAM v6.5 focuses on ease of use through new interface

VX CAD/CAM v6.5 is a third-generation paraametric, feature-based surface and solid modeler from VX Corp., which released its first 3D modeling application in 1987. VX GAD/CAM boasts integrated modeling, assembly, drafting, and CAM applications. VX has found a niche among industrial and mold designers thanks to its advanced surface and solid modeling mold design capability. It also can integrate geometry imported from other CAD systems into parametric models and comes with a suite of topology healing tools. Since its introduction in 1999, VX CAD/CAM has delivered an impressive depth of functionality (see Cadalyst, Sept. 2000, p.40). This depth, however, makes the product seem a bit more complex to the average user than other solids-only MCAD applications. In this release, VX makes the product much easier to use with a new nonlinear command interface and consolidated command structure. Enhancements also benefit mold design, part and assembly modeling, toolpath generation, and application support. Let's take a closer look at what's new in v6.5.
