EVERY year since 2009, the Food & Drug Administration has released a report that is mislabeled as "Antimicrobials Sold or Distributed for Use in Food-Producing Animals."I say "mislabeled" because every table in the report that provides totals for different types of antimicrobial sales has a footnote that says: "Includes antimicrobial drug applications which are approved and labeled for use in both food-producing animals(e.g., cattle and swine) and non-food-producing animals (e.g., dogs and cats)."The reports can be viewed on the FDA website at www. fda.gov/ForIndustry/UserFees/ AnimalDrugUserFeeActADUFA/ ucm042896.htm.
