Weeds CRC researchers have been looking for suitable biocontrol agents for fumitories (Fumaria sp.) and sowthistie (Sonchus sp.). Fumitories are a group of plants native to Europe that have become weeds in many parts of the world. In Australia, they are becoming a significant problem in southern cropping systems, particularly in peas and lupin. In New South Wales during 1999, populations of dense-flowered fumitory (Fumaria densiflora) were discovered with resistance to Group D herbicides in canola and cereals.
