Basagran oil/dose response wwork 2010

The 2010 Basagran oil work was very disappointing. A weed population developed, but the predominant species were those which bentazone struggles to control (i.e. annual meadow-grass, field pansy and knotgrass). Others weeds were present but, at the time of application, they were already well developed and bentazone struggled to control these effectively. An application 0.5kg of Basagran SG + Toil controlled fools parsley significantly but higher rates with oil appeared to be ineffective, making conclusions difficult to draw. Levels of phytotoxicity generally rose with increasing rates of bentazone, but none were significantly worse than a full rate application.
