The relevance of dental erosion has increased significantly over recent years. This fact is not only supported by daily observation in clinical practice but also by the large number of publications on the subject. In the 1970s, there were less than five publications per year addressing dental erosion; this doubled to approximately 10 per year in the 1980s. There are now more than 100 publications on the topic every year.
