The two products advertised above are from Norel S.A. and both are proven to help in the control of Salmonella*, one is based on sodium butyrate (GUSTOR) and the other based on one class of Bacillus spores, which is emerging as a significantly effective dietary direct-fed microbial. After many years of application in the feed industry, modern use of direct-fed microbial (probiotics) is still seen by some as being inconsistent and as such unreliable: widespread probiotic acceptance as a viable alternative to antibiotic growth promoters has been hampered by the perceived weaknesses of bacteria to heat, or acids, or medication.
