Report stresses importance of floriculture research

The feds recent decision to cut funding to pest management research sparked criticism from producers and their farm organizations. Now, in an effort to get the government to understand the overall impact this move will have on the industry, Flowers Canada has presented a report to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Minister Ralph Goodale. Entitled, Research and Pest Management, the report outlines in detail the position of Flowers Canada on these cuts, and their inevitable impact on the floriculture industry. The government has, by international agreement, a responsibility to enhance the environment, says the report.
