The massive earthquake that hit Japan in March has not only slowed production of Nissan's "Leaf" electric vehicle (EV) but also could force delays in EV production in the U.S., currently scheduled for late 2012. According to a June 13 Automotive News report quoting Nissan EV business unit head Hideaki Watanabe, "The earthquake is putting us in a very difficult situation. But we are not giving up yet. Is there a potential for delay? There may be. We are assessing right now."
