Sometimes it is just the simple shades and hues of green that give grace to the space, but leaves come in lots of other choices besides green. While most plants flower for just a week or two, foliage color lasts through the season. Green is the dominant theme amongst plants, but they also come in shades of white, gray, yellow, purple, maroon, red or even black. Usually these non-green colors are painted across the entire surface of the leaf but oftentimes they are blended with other leaf colors in some type of variegation. Variegation provides gardeners with lots of color choices but not all variegation is the same. In the following paragraphs let's explore the different types of variegation.
