The 3rd International Public Health and Palliative Care Conference

摘要

The 3rd International Public Health and Palliative Care Conference took place on 25-27 April 2013 in Limerick, Ireland. The overarching theme of the conference was that palliative care is a major and global public health priority that deserves immediate attention. Transitions in epidemiology (i.e. in the nature and type of diseases) and in society have the potential to impose significant demands and challenges on current health-care systems. What is required, therefore, is a palliative care approach that draws on the theoretical models or frameworks of health promotion to raise public awareness of palliative care, increase clinical expertise, and develop research capacity.
