Biological inoculants for improving silage feed value

Silage making has become an increasingly expensive process with the value of silage per tonne of dry matter now approaching 70 EUR (approximately 100 EUR). However, it still remains the cheapest winter feed for dairy cows. The key to a profitable dairy production system is to utilise the on-farm forage as efficiently as possible. This article will discuss some important issues regarding the silage making process in order to keep the costs as low as possible.
