NOW 20 YEAR PUEL SUPPLY PACTS FOR POWER SECTOR

In a move that will mitigate the concerns of the power sector regarding the long-term availability of coal in the country the government has decided that power sector utilities will be covered by fuel supply agreements (FSAS) for a period of 20 years. The fuel supply agreements with power utilities, which will have hundred per cent linkages, will be subject to a five-year revision for logistical reasons. This was decided at the committee of secretaries meeting held on October 1 after due deliberations with representatives from the ministries of coal, finance, power, fertilizer, railways, DIPP as well as members from planning commission.
