This is the all-new Vauxhall Insignia - bigger, classier and far more advanced than the Vectra it replaces. No wonder they decided to change its name. Vauxhall is the latest mass-manufacturer to join the "near premium" family car brigade with the launch of its all-new Mondeo chaser, the Insignia. The car's arrival this week follows recent all-new versions of the Ford Mondeo, Citroen C5, Honda Accord, Renault Laguna and VW Passat CC. Each of those manufacturers has attempted to make the same points: "Our new car is as well designed, technologically advanced - and probably even better equipped - than many so-called premium marques."
