Participation of local farmers in the process of Janampet Watershed development programme

摘要

This paper deals with the involvement of local farmers at various stages of watershed development progress. The findings indicated that the participation of farmers at the bench mark survey was less, while it was encouragng in training (77.33 percent) and distribution of inputs (33.33 percent) activities in the execution stage. Only 8.6 percent of farmers involved in feed back information of officials in the monitoring stage. Majority (90 percent) of farmers received inputs, while 25 percent of themgained employment during project period. The consideration of suggestions offered by the farmers for effective functioning of watersheds would rekindle the hopes of dryland farmers.
