10th Anniversary of the training course for Japanese early career psychiatrists: Course for the Academic Development of Psychiatrists (CADP)

The series of Courses for the Academic Development of Psychiatrists (CADP) in Japan was planned and initiated in 2002 by Professor Norman Sartorius, a former World Psychiatric Association (WPA) president, in collaboration with Professor Mitsumoto Sato, the then President of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology (JSPN). The first CADP was held on 20-23 February 2002, in Kobe, Japan (Uehara et ah, 2009; Matsumoto et al., 2010). In addition to the two renowned experts mentioned above, other senior experts attended the course as lecturers, such as Sir David Goldberg from the UK, Professor Masatoshi Takeda, and Professor Naotaka Shinfuku, the WPA Zonal Representative for Zone 17.
