Ba Huan sets hygiene protocols for egg industry

The bird flu outbreaks that have hit Vietnam since 2004, affected Ba Huan's business adversely. The company saw no way out other than to ensure that every single egg that it sold was safe for consumption. With this in focus, Ba Huan invested VND 30 billion (USD 13 million) to install its first automatic packing line in 2006. The system is integrated with egg washing and disinfection facilities. Moba of the Netherlands designed the line as well as sourced and supplied all the equipment that also includes a mid-sized grader and packer Omnia XF 170 that has a 65,000 eggs/ hour capacity. Pham Thanh Hung, Ba Huan's Vice Director, said the line handles about 1 million eggs/day. All are packed and sold in Ho Chi Minh City, which consumes about 3.5 millioneggs/day.
