Detecting of Primary Muscular Lymphoma by FDG PET-CT in a Patient with Lung Cancer

Primary muscular lymphoma is a very rare clinical condition, accounting for approximately 0.5% of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma arising in extra-nodal sites. The Fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-18 FDG PET/CT) findings in patients with primary muscular lymphoma have rarely been described, especially in the early stage. A 65-year-old male patient with the history of lung cancer had developed left thigh pain for one month. F-18 FDG PET/CT was performed for the detection of metastasis, which showed two focal lesions with intense uptake of fluorodeoxyglucose in the left thigh. Computed tomography (CT)-guided biopsy of muscle tissue of the left thigh with histological examination identified diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
