摘要

THERE has been an increasing level of interest in pre-feedlot induction programs, based primarily on managing risks associated with respiratory disease, since they first appeared on the Australian market in 2005. Such programs are designed to delivera cost-effective, easy-to-manage pathway to improved health that assists feeder cattle perform to their genetic potential. Bovine respiratory disease (BED) is estimated to cause between 50% and 90% of all sickness occurring in commercial feedlots and iscalculated to cost the beef industry at least 60 million dollar in lost productivity each year.
