THE VINIFERA WINE GROWERS Association (VWGA), a non-profit organization founded in 1973 by Treville Lawrence, has been the host of 30 annual Virginia Wine Festivals since the first one on Saturday, August 28,1976. Lawrence, a resident of The Plains, Virginia, authored Jefferson and Wine: Thomas Jefferson: The Wine Connoisseur and Wine Grower, published by the VWGA in 1976.
