Statoil has made another gas discovery off Tanzania and is now to drill one appraisal well before taking a break and considering its future strategy. The Mdalasini exploration well has just been completed in Block 2 by Transocean's Discoverer Americas drillship and uncovered another 1.0 to 1.8 Tcf of gas in place. This was the 13th well on the block and the eighth discovery and brings in place volumes on the acreage to about 22 Tcf.
