Benjamin Franklin, a founding father of the USA, famously said: "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." Perhaps it is time to modernise that quote. If you are in business you will know for certain that your costs will rise and, particularly in 2019, it will be your labour costs.This is simply because in April 2019 the National Living Wage will increase by 4.91 per cent to ￡8.21 an hour for workers aged over 25. Rates for younger workers will also rise above inflation and average earnings. So no matter what age your employees are, your costs will rise and you need to be ready.
