At the time of writing, 120 units are working in the Middle East, down from 125 in January 2020, causing a decrease in marketed utilisation from 80% in January to 77% at present. Saudi Aramco and ADNOC remain in discussions to rationalise their working fleets and reduce day rates. In April, Saudi Aramco approached some drilling contractors with a proposal to suspend contracts. Other campaigns by smaller operators have been pushed to the right until operators get a handle on the current crisis.
