The present invention relates to a primer and a probe for detection of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus and to a method for detecting Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus using the same. Specifically, the primer and the probe comprising a specific nucleotide sequence targeting a nucleocapsid gene of the present invention have higher sensitivity to RT-PCR than previously used MERS real-time PCR kits targeting upE and ORF1a genes and primer and probe sets of a N2 gene to accurately detect MERS-CoV, and thus the primer and probe set of the present invention can be usefully used for detection and diagnosis of the MERS-CoV.
