Spot prices in freefall

Premium hard coking coal spot prices havetumbled since the start of December andare now well below the January-Marchcontract settlement of $285/mt FOB andare lower even than Chinese domesticcoal prices. Distressed cargo sales, alongwith Chinese mills and traders trying toresell seaborne cargoes into the local spotmarket, have intensified the pressure onseaborne spot prices.
