PHOTOGRAPHY AND PAINTING

IT BUGS ME, TO NO END, when non-photography people will look at one of my photos and say something like: "Very nice. It looks like a painting." While it's meant to be a compliment it really makes me cringe. This is not a knock against "non-photography people," as in folks who might not have a photography background and can't, necessarily, speak insightfully about a photograph the way a trained photographer or student of photography might be able to.
