Russia ready to relax import ban on EU cattle and sheep

Russia is preparing to relax import restrictions on livestock and genetic material from six of the eight EU member states affected by the Schmallenberg virus. Russia's state veterinary service, Rosselk-hoznadzor said it will soon allow imports from specific countries and regions following a decline in new outbreaks of the disease, which causes birth defects in lambs and calves.
