Tea Industry of Tripura: Origin and Development

Tea plantation of Tripura is one of the oldest in India and reaching the milestone of one hundred years in 2017 since the beginning of the tea industry in Tripura is a proof of its importance in the socio-economy of the state of Tripura. In fact, teahas been the most important agro-based industry of the state, the tea plantations being spread all over the state from north to south, and east and west. The tea industry of Tripura has tremendous impact on the economy, employment, society and culture of the land locked bordering state of Assam. The tea industry of Tripura had its beginning in the year 1917.
