Resistin is an adipokine that may contribute to the link between inflammation and cardiovascular disease. In rheumatoid arthritis (RA), resistin forms part of the inflammatory cascade and indeed colocalises with inflammatory cells in syn-ovial tissue and upregulates cytokine production.
