Last year, the United States experienced many weather-related dkasters, from massive hurricane flooding in Texas to out of dfntrol wildfires in California. Many of us watched news clips in horror as we saw horses up to their heads in flood water. Those of us who saw the videos of handlers trying to save horses at the California race track will likely never forget those images. For some of us, those events were very close to home and for some of us, they were only video clips on the screen. No matterhow you experienced these disasters, the truth remains, any horse owner can experience a disaster no matter where we live. The question becomes—Does your bam have a disaster plan?Many state universities have great sites that provide information on all the components of a disaster plan.
