摘要

Problem-solving (PS) skill plays a crucial role in developing students’ thinking to higher level, and it is proven to improve the quality of learning. On a broader scale, problem-solving skill helps equip an individual to become proficient to face the challenges of life and workin the modern world of the 21st century. Shifting towards technology-rich and fast-paced societies, social media such as Facebook is prospective to be utilized as a valuable tool in acquiring digital native students to engage in online PS discussion activities. The integration of a well-plannedcontextual case to anchor students’ interest, as well as the implementation of metacognitive scaffolding by teachers in students’ favored platform, offer active involvement, interaction and collaboration, which aids in nurturing PS skill. This is in parallel with the Vygotsky’s’Social Constructivism theory leading to the formulation of a theoretical framework that can be applied to develop and maintain students’ PS skill. This proposed framework is hoped to provide some insights to educators in fulfilling the aspiration of the Ministry of Education (MOE) toinculcate PS skill into the school curriculum.
