Intelligent bonding solutions with improved durability and a longer service life can make a significant contribution to reducing resource use. At the request of the Council of the European Union, the European Commission made the circular economy one of its highest priorities some time ago. Until now the focus has been primarily on the energy efficiency of products (the ban on conventional light bulbs, the reduction in the power consumption of vacuum cleaners etc.), but the Commission is now rightly in the process of drawing up specifications for the environmentally friendly design of energy-related products and of defining resource-efficiency requirements. Factors such as reusability, recyclability and repairability will also become increasingly important.
