Liberty Steel, part of the GFG Alliance, confrmed an EUR 200 million investment in Galati steelworks in Romania over the next fve years to secure its sustainable development and increase the production.CEo of GFG Alliance Sanjeev Gupta today during the inauguration ceremony on the occasion of the change of ownership in Galati pledged a EUR 200 million investment in the asset, Metal Expert learnt. The company confrmed its commitment to develop Galati steelworks and today offcially opened a new cutting line, which will enable the company to supply a new range of products to its customers, according to the release. Besides, "additional funds have been set aside to fund signifcant strategic investments which are under development," the release reads.Galati is the largest steelmaker in Romania, it produces HRC, CRC, HDG, plates and welded pipes for construction, marine, oil, gas and wind energy customers.
