Turkey’s 2019 thermal coal imports up 1% on year at 31.7 mil mt

London—Turkey imported a total of 31.73 million mt of thermal coal for 2019, up 1% from 31.49 million mt in the same period of 2018, according to data released Friday by the Turkish Statistical Institute. Colombia remained the key source of thermal coal for the Turkish market, accounting for 57% – or 18.03 million mt of total 2019 imports, remaining relatively flat from the 2018 share of 58%.
