New Shell shares off in first day of trading

Royal Dutch Shell shares fell July 20,their first day of trade in London since the company ended a century-old separation of its UK and Dutch parent companies in a bid to boost confidence hurt by a reserves-accounting scandal.Shell A shares,swapped for Dutch parent company stock,fell 3.2% to 1,777 pence,and the UK-parent B shares lost 1.7% to 1,803 pence.Some analysts expected the A shares to lag because their dividends will be subject to Dutch withholding tax.
