Histological aspects of microsporogenesis in genetic male sterile and fertile DS-5 lines of G. arboreum L. cotton

Microsporogenesis was studied in male sterile and male fertile buds of Gossypium arboreum line DS-5. Pollen development followed the path in both types until the release of the microspores from the tetrads. There followed certain developmental changes during maturation of the pollen grains. After initial enlargement shrivelling and shrinkage of pollen grain cytoplasm was observed.
