Canterbury's Dr Vince Bidwell (BE(Hons)(Civil), PhD(Auck.), MIPENZ, MRSNZ) has retired from Lincoln Ventures Limited after a long and distinguished career in environmental engineering. He is best known for his work in groundwater systems modelling. Vince was responsible for developing the Eigen-model, for quantifying the effects of climate change and groundwater abstraction on groundwater levels and aquifer discharge to surface waters. He was also a developer of AquiferSim, a modelling package for evaluating the cumulative effects of agricultural land-use on groundwater/surface-water quality.
